14 Jan The Penny Tread Test
I’m sure that you’ve heard of several different ways to check if your tires need to be replaced. But, have you ever heard of the penny tread test? We’ll walk you through, step-by-step, to checking your tires by only using a single penny!
- Place the penny into the tread grooves of your tire. You will want Lincoln’s head to be facing you and head first into the tire.
- If you are only able to see the very top of Lincoln’s head, then this means that your tires are worn out and need to be replaced.
- If a portion of Lincoln’s head is covered by tread (about more than 2/32 of an inch), then you most likely don’t need a new set of tires.
This simple test is as easy as it seems, and it will only cost you a penny! If you’re unsure whether or not you need new tires, stop by Tire and Wheel Master today and allow our professional staff members assist you!
